I am 100% addicted to these books...but I haven't had ANY time to read past the 2nd chapter in this one. It's KILLING me that it's just sitting by my bed. I guess I could get off my stupid computer right now while I have some time and go read it!

Who inspires you to be the person you are today?

You know...I'm not really sure there is any one specific person. I think I've been blessed in this life to have a group of people surrounding me that help me to be a better person. I think the combination of all those people help me to see that I'm worth more than I give myself credit for, and I strive to live up to how they see me.

Aww...I kind of want to cry now...hehe :)

Striking blows...

I'm not sure many people understand just how impatient I am. I think I actually come across very much like a "go with the flow" type of person.

That assessment could not be any further from the truth. When I want something...when it's something I REALLY desire...I want it NOW. I get frustrated if I can't make that particular thing happen. I will turn my life upside down in order to get it...and many times I end up destroying a lot of other things in the process.

It's self-destructive behavior at its finest...or...worst...haha.

But, the good news is, I recognize this about myself, and I work all the time on just being content with what I have...and trying (even if it is unsuccessfully) to just wait until the right time to go after things.

Well, I found this quote today: "One blow struckt when God's time is fulfilled is worth a thousand struck in premature eagerness." - F.B. Meyer

That simply could not be better said. I know I'm never going to get it completely right, none of us ever do, but I do know I need to stop striking as many blows as I do...I'm wasting my time and energy on it. And what time I have here is precious. I don't want to spend it wishing I had something different. I want to enjoy what I do have.

Home sweet home...

Well...I've done it! I bought a house!

Technically it's not mine until every "I" is dotted and every "T" crossed...but it's basically a done deal at this point.

I'm SO excited! I wish I had some pictures to share, but those are soon to come I'm sure.

So here's the details:

It's an older house, built in 1927, but it's very good shape. It's a small bungalow, and fits my personality just perfectly. There are two small bedrooms upstairs, along with a finished basement with fireplace, another bedroom, bathroom, and a storage/laundry area. At this point, I am thinking about making the downstairs a master suite and turning the small bedroom down there into a closet.

Going upstairs again, there is a really nice front sun room which is fully enclosed and heated, so I can pretty much use it all year round, so I'm pretty excited about that one. The living room is decent size. Not tiny, but not big either. It will be fine...especially considering the fact I have living room furniture at this point! As for the two tiny bedrooms, I think one will become an office/guess room, and the other a workout room. We'll have to see though. I'm sure I'll change my mind about a thousand times!

The kitchen is really nice...a bit unique, but very well kept, and it has a dishwasher, which is amazing, because most of the houses I looked at didn't. It also has central air, which was high on my want list!

There's also another bathroom upstairs off of the kitchen as well as a big area right in front of the back door that will be great in the winter time after I come in from the snow!

Speaking of the great outdoors...the backyard is pretty nice! It's not too big, so I don't have a ton to mow, but big enough for a doggy! I can't wait to get one...seriously...CANNOT wait! The garage leaves a bit to be desired, but I'm not too worried about that right now. I need to fix the door on it and then it will be usable. Until then I suppose I'll just park in the driveway! I'm kind of dreading having to shovel it in the winter time...but I guess I have a few more months before I need to worry about that.

Oh, and the best part is that it's under my budget and the taxes are cheap! Wooo!

Ok...now that I've just typed a novel about the house, I'm going to shut up. :)

I'm just relaxing and enjoying the day.

Tonight I'll be going to see some firework...which I'm super stoked about because I missed them last year! Yay :)

I got up this morning and took a walk to the river and sat on a bench by myself and just enjoyed the beautiful day we're having here. I definitely needed some alone time...

When I got back I decided that because I had never done so before, I should read through the entire Declaration of Independence.

I can't believe I had never taken the few minutes required to read through the document. It's amazing in so many regards, and I'm glad I read it.

I think the entire tone of the document can be summed up with the first sentence of the second paragraph:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Our founders sought to break away from a tyrannical government that those simple and "unalienable" rights. They were determined to put forth a government that was strong, yet fair. Their success was an example to the world. I am really thankful that I get to be a part of celebrating that success.

QotD: Why I Blog

Why do you blog?

I do it for lots of different reasons...and I have different blogs for different reasons too! I know I should only have one...but I'm obsessed.

I have one that I try to update weekly with my life happenings so people in my life that I don't see or talk to often can stay involved in what is going on with me.

I have another that use as a creative outlet. I try to write something at least weekly, although I have been slacking on that one. The people who read it are definitely big fans! It makes me feel good to know that people enjoy my writing and humor.

And then I have this blog! I try to contain myself to writing about my more serious side...mostly about my faith...or lack of it! I sometimes run off track though, and that's ok...blogs don't have rules!

Thank God for that!

What can I give?

What can I give back to God for the blessings he’s poured out on me?

I never think about that...out of all the things that have been given to me how do I repay the one who gave them to me? In my regular everyday life I'd thank the person...maybe write a note...maybe return the favor.

When God blesses my life, what do I do? I don't feel that I'm nearly thankful enough. I probably don't live my life in a way that is worthy of those blessings. I know all I can do is my best...but it's still hard to think that I'm not living up to everything that I have been given. I should make that something to work on.

A little side note...I admitted to someone this weekend something that I've never ever told another human before. I'm not going to repeat it here...but it felt amazing to say it. I felt like up until that point I had been lying, and now I feel free from that. Maybe now I can get over that major hurdle in my life...maybe now my faith can grow.
